ECE Ph.D. Graduate, Dr. Jonah, receives 2nd Best Conference Paper Award in IEEE WPTC 2013 Conference


Dr. Olutola Jonah, a recent graduate of FIU’s ECE doctoral program, received on May 15th, 2013, the 2nd Best Conference Paper Award at the IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC) 2013 for his paper on “Orientation Insensitive Power Transfer by Magnetic Resonance in Mobile Devices”. Co-authors of this paper were Stavros Georgakopoulos (Assistant Professor at FIU), and Manos Tentzeris (Professor at Georgia Tech).

Dr. Jonah received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in 2000 and 2008, respectively. Dr. Jonah performed research for 4 years under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Georgakopoulos and received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Florida International University, in Spring, 2013. His research interests include wireless powering of devices, electromagnetic wave propagation in non-homogenous interfaces, antennas and RF circuits.
